Senator Dafinone Condemns Alleged Killing of Youth in Effurun, Demands Probe

Senator representing Delta Central Senatorial District, Senator Ede Dafinone, has condemned the alleged extrajudicial killing of 28-year-old Oghenemine Million Ogidi in Effurun, Delta State, calling for a thorough and transparent investigation into the incident.

Ogidi, an indigene of Ujevwu in Udu Local Government Area, was reportedly shot dead on April 26, 2026, in circumstances that have triggered public anger and renewed concerns over alleged police brutality and excessive use of force by security operatives.

In a statement on Tuesday, Senator Dafinone said the killing was unacceptable and stressed that security personnel entrusted with protecting lives must not act in ways that endanger the citizens they are meant to serve.

He also urged the Inspector General of Police and the Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, to identify and prosecute those responsible, while appealing for calm and a proper investigation process that leads to accountability and justice for the victim’s family.
