Rivers APC Calls for Governor Fubara’s Resignation or Impeachment
The opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State has given Governor Siminalayi Fubara an ultimatum to either resign within 48 hours or face impeachment by the State House of Assembly.
Chief Tony Okocha, Chairman of the APC in Rivers, made the demand on Monday, March 10 during a press briefing at his residence in Port Harcourt, the state capital.
Okocha accused Governor Fubara of disrespecting President Bola Tinubu, particularly after the president attempted to offer a political solution to the ongoing crisis in the state. The APC leader insisted that Fubara’s actions were unacceptable, saying: “As a political party, we are today advising the governor; there are two options, resign honourably or be impeached. This is the position of the All Progressives Congress. He has disrespected Mr. President, and we cannot stand by and allow that to continue.”

The APC claims that the governor’s actions constitute serious offences, with Okocha referring to a Supreme Court ruling that has, according to him, provided further evidence against Fubara. He argued that the State House of Assembly does not need to form any investigative committee, as the evidence is clear.
