Police Rescue Kidnapped 3-Year-Old in Ughelli
Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have rescued a three-year-old girl who was allegedly kidnapped by a commercial motorcyclist entrusted with taking her to school in Ughelli.
The suspect, identified as Kelvin Ogaga, was arrested by operatives of the Command Anti-Vice Squad (CAVS), Sector 2, following a complaint lodged by the victim’s father on May 18, 2026.
According to the police, the suspect allegedly abducted the child and demanded a ransom of ₦500,000 from the family. After negotiations, the family reportedly paid the ransom to secure the release of the child.
Acting on credible technical intelligence, police operatives stormed the suspect’s hideout in Ughelli, where he was apprehended. Recovered from him were ₦127,000 believed to be part of the ransom money, valuables allegedly purchased with proceeds of the crime, and the motorcycle used in carrying out the operation.
The spokesperson of the Delta State Police Command, Bright Edafe, confirmed the incident, stating that the suspect remains in custody while investigations continue.
