Police Cracks Down Baby Factory in Delta
The Delta State Police have arrested three suspects linked to a baby trafficking ring.
Police spokesperson Bright Edafe disclosed this via a video shared on his X social media handle on Monday, February 10.
One of the suspects, the baby’s mother, allegedly gave her newborn to an unidentified woman, who sold the child for ₦3.5 million. The mother reportedly received just ₦600,000.

In the video, Police Public Relations Officer, Bright Edafe, explained, “The woman had been pregnant, but later claimed someone helped her sell the baby for ₦600,000.” He emphasized the ongoing crackdown on such operations.

The seller admitted to selling the baby for ₦3.5 million, giving the mother ₦600,000, and leaving the rest in her account.
“I sold the baby for N3.5 million. I gave the mother N600,00, the N30,000 was the money she took from me earlier on. I gave her N600,000 for her business, the remaining money is in my account, I didn’t touch it. She said she didn’t want to breastfeed, that she didn’t need the relationship.”
The buyer, who sought a child legally, paid ₦5 million and was told the paperwork was in process.
Following this recent development, the police have disclosed more efforts will be in place to tackle child trafficking in the state
