Over 300 Arrested for Drug Abuse in Delta State – NDLEA
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has revealed it arrested 322 suspected drug users and dealers in Delta State between January and March this year.
The state commander, Abubakar Wada, announced the arrests during a press briefing in Ogwashi-Uku. He said the suspects included 248 men and 74 women.
Wada said the agency seized over 1.3 tonnes and 42.5 litres of drugs in that time. He also revealed that a truck carrying cannabis worth about ₦25 million was intercepted along the Ughelli-Kwale road, though the suspects escaped.

Other operations by the agency in the state include the destruction of 50-hectare cannabis farm in Orogun, Ughelli North, the conviction of 76 offenders, while 195 drug users were counselled.
Wada described the suspects as “dangerous and heartless,” but assured the public that the NDLEA would not back down.
The agency also rehabilitated five clients and provided free medical services to residents in the host community.
As the agency intensifies its efforts in curbing drug abuse and other related menace, members of the community and other stakeholders are urged to support the fight against drug abuse.
