Oborevwori Upgrades NYSC Orientation Camp Internal Roads
Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has approved the construction of internal roads and drainage systems at the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Orientation Camp in Issele-Uku, aiming to improve living conditions for Corps members.
During a site inspection on Tuesday, May 20, the State Commissioner for Works (Highways and Urban Roads), Reuben Izeze, said the project reflects the governor’s commitment to people-centered governance.

“Before now, the internal roads were virtually non-existent and turned muddy during the rainy season,” Izeze said. “For many Corps members, this camp is their only experience of Delta State, and we want it to be a positive one.”
He explained that Governor Oborevwori, aware of the challenges, approved the construction of 1.2 kilometers of roads and 2.4 kilometers of covered drainage in key parts of the camp, including residential, parade, and recreational areas.

The contractor, Rony Karam, said the project should be completed in two months, with most drainage work already done.

In a separate development, Commissioner Izeze also visited the abandoned Nnemiyi erosion control project. He expressed frustration over the stalled work, which was inherited from the previous administration.
He said the contractor had failed to meet agreed terms, and he would recommend that the project be terminated.
