Oborevwori Set To Rebuild Okuama Community After Genocide

….IDPs will return to a peaceful home

Delta Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori has initiated move for the rebuilding of Okuama Community in Ughelli South Local Government Area, LGA. This necessary step by the state government is an aftermath of the unfortunate event which occurred in the community that led to the gruesome killing of 17 Army Officers on March 14.

Oborevwori made the announcement in a meeting on Thursday August 8, when he hosted the leadership of the Urhobo Council of Traditional Rulers, led by its Chairman, HRM Emmanuel Sideso Abe I, Ovie of Uvwie Kingdom and the Urhobo Progressive Union (UPU) worldwide, led by Chief Ese Gam, at the Government House, Asaba.

The Governor did not hold back his appreciation to the traditional leaders who have supported Okuama indigenes with relief materials since the tragic incident.

He informed the delegates that the state government had awarded the contract for the building of a health facility and six classroom blocks for primary and secondary schools in the community. He further assured the traditional leaders that the surviving displaced persons will return to their peaceful homeland in no distant time.
