Oborevwori Hints at Trans Warri-Ode Itsekiri Road, Bridges Commissioning
The Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, on Monday disclosed that the long-awaited Trans Warri-Ode Itsekiri Roads and Bridges project would be commissioned after the completion of the Ubeji-Ifie Road currently under construction.
Oborevwori made the disclosure while addressing workers at the Julius Berger Nigeria Plc project site in Osubi, Okpe Local Government Area, where he reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to infrastructure development and youth employment.
According to the governor, the state government remains determined to complete critical projects across Delta State, noting that the Trans Warri-Ode Itsekiri Roads and Bridges project had been substantially completed, but would only be inaugurated alongside the Ubeji-Ifie Road for maximum impact.
“We are determined to complete important projects across the state, including roads, bridges and other critical infrastructure. Some of these projects may not yet be completed, but work is ongoing, and when they are completed, the people will enjoy the full benefits,” he said.
The 20.95 km Trans-Warri–Ode-Itsekiri Road and bridges project was completed in December 2025, with commissioning expected early this year, roughly 19 years after the initial 2006 contract.
The project features 15 bridges and connects various Warri South communities.
Oborevwori also pledged to sustain partnerships with construction firms to create more jobs for youths, stressing that unemployment and economic hardship remains a major challenge confronting many families in the state.
He commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for economic reforms which, according to him, had increased revenue accruing to states and enhanced project delivery across the country.
