Itsekiri APC Leaders Endorse Tinubu, Oborevwori for 2027
Leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) of Itsekiri extraction in Warri Federal Constituency held a strategic stakeholders’ meeting today in Warri, with a clear focus on uniting the Itsekiri political bloc and declaring support for the second-term bids of President Bola Tinubu and Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.
The gathering brought together critical Itsekiri political stakeholders within the APC, including national and state appointees, serving and former lawmakers, party executives, local government chairmen, commissioners, and other influential leaders across Warri North and Warri South. Notably present were the APC Delta South Senatorial Chairman and the Member representing Warri Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.
The meeting centered on reinforcing political cohesion within the Itsekiri APC fold and strengthening the group’s influence at both federal and state levels. It also served as a platform to align political direction ahead of the 2027 general elections, with a resolution passed to endorse both President Tinubu and Governor Oborevwori for second terms.
A motion to this effect was moved by Hon. Daniel Mayuku and seconded by Hon. Oritsetimeyin. It received unanimous backing from all present, signifying a rare consensus within the Itsekiri political landscape.
During the meeting, the Member representing Warri Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Thomas Ereyitomi, stressed the importance of unity among the Itsekiri people, stating that the gathering marked a major step in consolidating both tribal and political strength under the APC. He added that the meeting was a timely move to integrate and mobilize Itsekiri support for the party’s agenda ahead of the next election cycle.
Addressing the press after the meeting, prominent APC chieftain and influential Itsekiri leader, Chief Ayiri Emami expressed satisfaction with the level of alignment achieved among Itsekiri political actors. He described the moment as historic, noting that for the first time in over a decade, the Itsekiri ethnic group is politically united with a common agenda under the APC.
According to him, this renewed unity would not only strengthen the Itsekiri voice at all levels of governance but also reposition the ethnic group to benefit more effectively from political representation and development opportunities. He said the decision to back President Tinubu and Governor Oborevwori was taken in the best interest of the tribe and represents a unified political rebirth for the Itsekiri people.
The meeting was strictly focused on Itsekiri interests and closed with a pledge of commitment from all attendees to ensure continued unity, coordinated political action, and active support for the APC’s leadership going into the 2027 general elections.
