Isoko South LG Chairman Removes Monarch Over Alleged Misconduct
The Chairman of Isoko South Local Government Area in Delta State, Friday Ovoke Warri, has dismissed the traditional ruler of Olomoro community, Joseph Isaiah Isike Edekere I, from his position as the Odio-logbo of Olomoro Kingdom. The decision was made in response to allegations of gross misconduct, lack of respect for constituted authority, and fanning embers of crisis within the community.
In a formal letter dated December 10, 2024, addressed to the embattled monarch, the council chairman ordered the immediate cessation of Isike Edekere I’s representation as the Odio-logbo of Olomoro Kingdom. The letter, titled “Withdrawal of Representation As The Odio-logbo of Olomoro Kingdom,” stated that the monarch’s involvement in actions that allegedly sowed confusion and crisis in the community, as well as his “high-handedness” in leadership.

The letter read in part: “I wish to inform you of your withdrawal from representing His Royal Majesty Isaiah Isike Edekere I, the Odio-logbo of Olomoro Kingdom, effective today, 10th December, 2024. This withdrawal is necessitated by your actions of lack of respect for government, creating confusion in Olomoro, and exercising high-handed leadership without regard to its impact on the people of Olomoro Kingdom.”
The council also ordered the monarch to cease parading himself as the Odio-logbo and instructed him to refrain from attending any traditional rulers’ council meetings at both the local government and state levels. The letter warned that any future reference to Isike Edekere I as HRM (His Royal Majesty) would be met with “dire consequences.”
The crisis in Olomoro community, which has been linked to the leadership of the monarch, has caused significant divisions, particularly in light of a power struggle involving the newly elected President-General of the community, Lucky Ewhe Ejoor. Ejoor, who has garnered widespread support from local leaders, youth groups, and women, is seen as a key figure in efforts to resolve the ongoing tensions in the area.
The dismissal of the monarch has added to the growing unrest in the community, as factions continue to battle for control and influence over Olomoro’s traditional and political leadership.
