INEC Confirms No Timetable Released for 2027 Election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has stated that it has not released any timetable or schedule for the 2027 General Election, countering reports circulating in some media outlets. The Commission urged Nigerians to disregard such claims, noting that they are not from official sources.

INEC explained that its operations are guided by Section 28(1) of the Electoral Act, 2022, which requires the publication of a Notice of Election no later than 360 days before a general election. Any schedule released outside this period cannot be considered valid.

The electoral body assured that the official timetable will be announced at the proper time and through its verified communication channels. INEC emphasized that it remains committed to transparency and compliance with the Constitution and electoral laws.

Members of the public and the media were advised to rely solely on INEC’s official platforms for accurate information regarding the 2027 General Election.
