Immigration Hikes Passport Fees, New Charge Takes Effect Sept 1
The Nigeria Immigration Service has announced new passport application fees, effective September 1, 2025. The revised charges apply only to Nigerians applying within the country.
The new rates put the 32-page, five-year passport at ₦100,000, while the 64-page, ten-year booklet will now cost ₦200,000. Fees for applicants abroad remain at $150 and $230 respectively.
The Service said the increase was necessary to maintain the quality and security of the Nigerian passport. It comes just a year after the Federal Government raised fees in 2024, when costs moved from ₦35,000 to ₦50,000 for the smaller booklet and from ₦70,000 to ₦100,000 for the larger option.
Officials noted that the review was aimed at ensuring sustainability while improving service delivery nationwide.
