Ibori-Suenu’s Supporters Respond, Accuse Critics of Political Envy

Supporters of Hon. Erhiatake Ibori-Suenu have responded to the recent criticisms made against her by some political leaders in the Ethiope Federal Constituency, saying the criticisms were not driven by facts but by fear of her growing relevance.

In a statement signed by Gabriel Choba, the supporters argued that the attacks were “vitriolic and fuelled by jealousy,” insisting that those leading the onslaught are threatened by the lawmaker’s rising profile. They maintained that the gathering in Eku was orchestrated to undermine her ahead of the 2027 elections.

The supporters challenged claims of poor representation, pointing to her legislative initiatives, including the bills establishing the Nigerian Customs Training College in Oghara and the Nigerian Paramedic College in Isiokolo. They also cited ongoing empowerment programmes and community projects as evidence of active engagement with the constituency.

They took particular aim at former lawmaker Hon. Halims Agoda, saying his statements stemmed from long-standing personal ambitions. According to the statement, his position reflects “the frustration of a man who believes the seat belongs to him,” not an objective assessment of Ibori-Suenu’s work.

As both camps harden their positions, the constituency is bracing for a more heated political atmosphere, with supporters insisting that Ibori-Suenu remains firmly grounded and prepared for the battles ahead.
