Ibori-Suenu Leaves PDP, Cites Exclusion and Leadership Crisis
The member representing the Ethiope East/West Federal Constituency, Delta State, Hon. Erhiatake Ibori-Suenu, has announced her resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), citing exclusion from the party’s state chapter and ongoing leadership divisions at the national level.
In a formal statement, Ibori-Suenu said she was immediately surrendering her PDP membership card, marking her complete dissociation from the party.
“My resignation was foisted on me by my complete exclusion from the state chapter of the party and by the persistent leadership crisis,” the statement reads.
The resignation comes as internal disputes over leadership and direction continue to deepen, raising further questions about the PDP’s unity and its prospects in future elections.
Several key members of the party have expressed frustration with the ongoing divisions, which have significantly impacted the party.
Ibori-Suenu, the daughter of former Delta governor James Ibori, did not specify her future political intentions but expressed gratitude for the support she had received during her time in the party.
The party has yet to issue an official response to her resignation.
