Govt College Ughelli to Honour Channels TV, Chevron, Pinnick, Others with Special Awards
Government College Ughelli is set to recognize Channels TV, Chevron, and several prominent industry leaders during its 80th anniversary celebration.
Among those nominated for awards are Dr. John Momoh, Chairman/CEO of Channels Incorporated; Jim Swartz, Chairman/Managing Director of Chevron Nigeria Limited; and Osagie Okunbor, Managing Director/Country Chair of Shell Petroleum Development Company Nigeria Limited. These honorees have been selected in recognition of their significant contributions to society and national development.

In a letter of invitation to the awardees, Olorogun Albert Akpomudje, SAN, President General Worldwide of the College Old Boys Association, and Secretary-General Wilson Egbodje, stated that the awards were intended to acknowledge the recipients’ “legacy of excellence” in the advancement of society.
The event, scheduled for Friday, January 17, 2024, will be chaired by Senator George Akume, Secretary to the Government of the Federation of Nigeria, with the Governor of Delta State, Sheriff Oborevwori, serving as the chief host.
The Old Boys Association in a letter addressed to Chevron, commended its generosity, notably the donation of a classroom block and a laboratory, which have greatly enhanced the learning environment. “Your support has enriched the educational experience for our students, fostering academic excellence and better access to quality education,” the letters read.
In a separate letter to John Momoh, the Association expressed pride in recognizing Channels Television for its unwavering commitment to covering the affairs of Government College Ughelli both locally and internationally.
Other notable awardees include, Amaju Pinnick, Chairman, Brownhill Group,Allen Onyema, Chairman/CEO, Air Peace, Miller Obriks Uloho, Prof. Olu Akinyanju,Dr. Titus Okereke,Joseph Akpieyi, Charles Majoroh,Prof. Oritsegbemi Omatete (North America), Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, Niger Delta Development Commission.
