Ganduje Resigns as APC National Chairman
The National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has resigned from his position, the party has yet to officially confirm. Though initial reports cite health reasons for his decision, multiple party sources suggest that internal dissatisfaction with his leadership style may have played a role in his departure.
A source within the APC, speaking anonymously confirmed that Ganduje’s personal belongings have been removed from the party’s national secretariat in Abuja. “Yes, Ganduje has resigned,” the source said. “The National Working Committee (NWC) will soon make a formal announcement and name an acting chairman.”

At the party’s headquarters on Friday, clusters of supporters gathered, discussing the sudden development and awaiting official confirmation. The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, could not be reached for comment, as calls placed to him by journalists went unanswered.
Adding to the growing certainty of the news, Bashir Ahmad, former media aide to ex-President Muhammadu Buhari, confirmed the resignation in a post on his X handle.
“The National Chairman of our great party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has resigned from his position, effective immediately, as confirmed by multiple sources,” Ahmad wrote.
According to him, Ganduje will be succeeded in an acting capacity by one of the party’s national vice chairmen, pending the election of a new chairman at the APC’s next national convention scheduled for December 2025.
