FG Sets Date for Talks on Petrol Pricing in July
The federal government has announced a two-day national stakeholder forum for July 23 and 24, aimed at addressing growing concerns over petrol pricing and supply in the deregulated downstream sector.
The meeting, organised by the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), will bring together marketers, refiners, and government officials to discuss price regulation, feedstock supply, and market stability.
Industry players, including the Petroleum Products Retail Outlets Owners Association and PENGASSAN, have raised concerns over sudden price changes, especially from the Dangote refinery, and called for transparency and fair pricing.
NMDPRA says Nigeria currently has 10 operational or near-ready refineries and is working toward consistent pricing standards, with more modular refineries expected to come online by 2026.
