FG Cancels Nigeria @65 Independence Day Parade
The Federal Government has cancelled the traditional parade that was scheduled to commemorate Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary on October 1. The decision was made public late Monday in Abuja through a statement by Segun Imohiosen, Director of Information and Public Relations at the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.
Government officials clarified that the cancellation does not diminish the importance of the day but is intended to streamline celebrations. Other activities lined up for the anniversary will proceed as earlier planned.
According to the statement, the Federal Government expressed regret for any inconvenience the cancellation may cause but assured citizens of its commitment to celebrating the milestone with dignity.
The announcement also urged Nigerians and the diplomatic community to remain supportive of ongoing reforms under President Bola Tinubu’s administration, which the government says are geared toward building a stronger and more prosperous nation.
