FCT Court Grants Fresh Bail to Abuja Pastor in Child Rape Case

Amos Isah

An FCT High Court sitting in Gwarinpa, Abuja, has granted fresh bail to Amos Isah, the founder of Prophetic Voice of Fire Ministry International, over allegations of raping a 14-year-old girl.

Justice Modupe Osho-Adebiyi admitted the cleric to bail in the sum of N50 million with two sureties, insisting that the sureties must be heads of Pentecostal churches with valid tax clearance documents. The court also ordered the defendant to surrender his passport.

The judge said the stricter conditions became necessary because the amended charge now contains eight counts, including an offence punishable by life imprisonment. The pastor had earlier been granted bail in 2025 on less stringent terms by another judge.

During proceedings, the defence urged the court to retain the previous bail conditions and also cited health concerns, while the prosecution opposed the application. However, the court ruled that the defendant had not jumped bail or obstructed trial, paving the way for his release.

The pastor was arrested in June 2025 after a 14-year-old member of his church accused him of rape. He has pleaded not guilty to the charges, while the case was adjourned until June 30 for continuation of hearing.
