Ekpan Community Suspends Youth President

The Executive Chairman of Uvwie Local Government Area, Anthony Ofoni, has announced the suspension of Victor Edevwe, the Youth President of Ekpan Community, following reports of gross misconduct. The decision, made after consultations with stakeholders in the community, is aimed at ensuring public security.

The suspension comes in the wake of Edevwe’s reported arrest for possession of arms. In his place, Mr. Otome Iffie, the Vice President, has been appointed as the new Youth President for the remainder of the term, which ends on June 7, 2025. This appointment is not temporary, but substantive.

Ofoni in his statement on Tuesday, March 18, called for the cooperation of all residents and cautioned against any actions that may disrupt the peace in Uvwie Local Government Area.

He urged the public to maintain calm and work together to uphold peace in both Ekpan and the broader Uvwie region.
