Edon Emerges President-Elect of DESOPADEC Association
The Association of Itsekiri Staff in Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (AISID) has successfully conducted its 2026 Elective Congress, producing a new executive team led by Austin Eyin Edon as President-elect.

The congress, held on Tuesday at the Commissioners Office, witnessed members of the association unanimously endorsing all candidates who contested unopposed for various executive positions.
The exercise was chaired by Ukalami Ekpoko and concluded peacefully, with members describing the process as transparent, united, and reflective of the association’s commitment to progress and inclusiveness.

Speaking after his emergence as President-elect, Edon pledged to lead an administration focused on members’ welfare, unity, cultural preservation, and career growth opportunities for Itsekiri staff within DESOPADEC.
According to him, AISID under his leadership would prioritize improved welfare packages and ensure that no member feels neglected.
“Our association can become stronger, more united, and more responsive to every member. This election is not about one person, but about all of us working together to build an AISID that truly serves everyone,” he stated.
Edon also stressed the need to preserve and promote Itsekiri cultural identity, while fostering unity among members across all departments and cadres within the commission.
The newly elected executives are expected to steer the affairs of the association for the next tenure following their formal inauguration during the Cultural and Inauguration Ceremony scheduled for May 26, 2026.
