DPO and Officers Killed In Deadly Ambush In Delta State
A Divisional Police Officer (DPO) and several officers have been killed in an ambush in Agbarho, Delta State while responding to a kidnap operation. Another senior officer is in critical condition following the early morning attack near Agbarho Rail Station.
The incident, which occurred around 1:00 am, was reported by Delta Human Rights Activist, Comrade Israel Joe, in a social media post. He revealed that the newly appointed DPO of Agbarho, who had only been in office for two days, was among those killed. The DPO of Orerokpe, CSP Paul, was seriously injured and is currently being treated at an undisclosed hospital.
In his post, Mr. Joe described the deadly ambush as a significant loss to the Delta State Police Command. “There was an exchange of gunfire, resulting in the deaths of the new DPO and several officers. The Orerokpe DPO is fighting for his life in the hospital,” he wrote.
The activist, who had spoken with the Agbarho DPO just a day before the attack, expressed his grief over the officer’s death. “This is a heartbreaking loss. I can personally attest to the integrity of these officers,” Mr. Joe said, offering his condolences to the families of the fallen officers and the police force.
