Delta State Proposes N1 Trillion Budget for 2026

The governor of Delta State, Sheriff Oborevwori, has presented a proposed budget of more than N1 trillion for 2026.

Speaking in Asaba through his Commissioner for Economic Planning, he said 67% of the budget would go to capital projects, with the remainder for recurrent expenditure.

The governor said the plan prioritises infrastructure, education, and healthcare, while also ensuring salaries and governance costs are met. He added that fiscal discipline and improved revenue collection had created room for growth.

According to him, the state has already achieved 69% implementation of capital projects and 86% of recurrent allocations in the current year.

Civil society groups at the budget forum praised the administration’s transparency and involvement of citizens in the process.
