Delta Pastor Banished by Community Over Alleged Abuse of Teen Boys
Community leaders in the Otovwodo (Agbassa) Community of the Agbarha Kingdom, Uvwie Local Government Area, have publicly banished a local pastor, Onome Imoniruvwe, over serious allegations of sexual misconduct involving several teenage boys.
The 33-year-old, popularly known as “Pastor Homo,” is accused of engaging in inappropriate behavior with male teenagers between the ages of 14 and 16, both within and outside the premises of St. Paul’s Anglican Church, where he was reportedly active.
In a public notice dated April 10 and obtained by SaharaReporters, the community described his actions as “unscrupulous, inhuman, and abominable.” The statement was signed by key community figures: the Traditional Prime Minister (Oghwuvwie) Hon. Jerry Ope Osioh, spokesman Obabokor Otota, and secretary Jeremiah Erhumejih Akarohor.
According to the notice, the decision to expel Imoniruvwe was prompted by a recent incident involving a 15-year-old boy. It was also revealed that he had previously been forced to leave the Edukugho area of Iyara over similar allegations.
“This act is considered a serious violation of the community’s cultural, religious, and moral values,” the statement read. “Otovwodo Agbassa Community strongly condemns such conduct, which is seen as an offense against our traditions, the church, and humanity.”
The statement further declared that Imoniruvwe is no longer welcome in the community or surrounding areas and should not be seen there going forward.
While community leaders have taken action, it is currently unclear whether law enforcement is involved or if formal charges have been filed. No response has yet been issued by Imoniruvwe or representatives of the church.
