Delta Govt Approves Police Headquarters for 25 LGAs

The Delta State Government has approved the construction of police divisional headquarters in each of the state’s 25 local government areas as part of plans to strengthen security. The initiative is coming as discussions continue at the federal level on the possible establishment of state police across Nigeria.

The projects will be spread across councils including Warri South, Warri South-West, Udu, Ughelli North, Ughelli South, Ethiope East, Ethiope West, Aniocha North and South, Ika North-East and South, Ndokwa East and West, Bomadi, Burutu, Isoko North and South, among others. Authorities believe the development will improve policing and response to security challenges within communities.

At the same meeting, the State Executive Council approved infrastructure projects worth more than ₦400 billion covering road construction, rehabilitation and upgrades across the state. The council also gave the green light for the construction of male and female hostels in state-owned universities and the renovation of magistrate courts, area courts and district customary courts.
