Delta APC Dismisses Omo-Agege’s Resignation, Declares Support for Oborevwori

The Delta State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed concerns over the resignation of former Deputy Senate President, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, insisting that his exit would not affect the party’s unity, strength, or electoral prospects in the state.

In a statement issued on Thursday by the State Publicity Secretary, Valentine Onojeghuo Esq., the party said the Delta APC remains firmly united and fully aligned with the leadership of Governor Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori.

The party stated that it received news of Omo-Agege’s resignation calmly, while wishing him success in his future political journey.

According to the statement, the APC in Delta has experienced significant growth and increased grassroots acceptance since Governor Oborevwori joined the ruling party.

The party noted that members across wards, local government areas, and senatorial districts had embraced what it described as a new era of inclusion, stability, and purposeful leadership under the governor’s influence.

The APC also argued that Omo-Agege’s departure would not weaken the structure or fortunes of the party in the state, maintaining that Delta APC has grown beyond personality-driven politics.

“His exit does not diminish the strength, stability, or prospects of our great party,” the statement read.

The party further rejected claims suggesting that its political future in Delta State depended on any single individual, insisting that the APC is now built on collective leadership and broad-based participation.

It also pointed to the earlier defection of some of Omo-Agege’s associates, including Hon. Ejaife Odebala, Chief Ominimini Obiuwevbi, and Hon. Collins Egbetamah, to the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), describing the developments as signs that the former senator had already begun distancing himself from the party before the primaries.

The APC alleged that Omo-Agege’s participation in the senatorial primary was part of a political strategy that eventually led to his resignation after failing to secure the party’s ticket.

The statement further accused the former lawmaker of withdrawing from key party activities after the primaries, including efforts linked to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s political engagements.

Reaffirming its loyalty to President Tinubu and Governor Oborevwori, the party described both leaders as central figures driving the APC’s renewed strength at the national and state levels.

The Delta APC added that it remains focused on consolidating its political gains and strengthening its structures ahead of future elections under the banner of the party’s “Renewed Hope for M.O.R.E Agenda.”
