Cubana Chief Priest Declares 2027 House of Reps Ambition
Popular nightlife entrepreneur and social media figure, Pascal Okechukwu, widely known as Cubana Chief Priest, has entered Nigeria’s political space with plans to contest for a seat in the House of Representatives in the 2027 general elections.
The businessman made the announcement via his Instagram page, confirming that he will seek election on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC). He stated that his decision to align with the ruling party was a strategic move aimed at achieving tangible political influence at the federal level.
According to him, one of his major motivations is the continued detention of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. He argued that operating within the party controlling the central government offers a better opportunity to push sensitive national issues than remaining in opposition politics.
Cubana Chief Priest also addressed questions surrounding his political history, recalling his public support for Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi during the 2023 elections. He clarified that the support occurred while he served as a Special Adviser to Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, but stressed that his current political loyalty lies with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the APC.
Framing his ambition as a generational shift, he said the South-East needs younger voices with influence who are ready to engage directly in governance. He added that moving from online advocacy to legislative responsibility is necessary to effectively advance regional interests within the national political structure.
