Body of Late COAS Lt. Gen. Lagbaja, Airlifted to Abuja

The remains of the late Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, have been airlifted to Abuja from Lagos from the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Wing at Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) in Lagos this morning at 9:00 am.

Soldiers from the Guards Brigade were on hand to solemnly receive the late military leader’s body, as preparations are underway for his final rites and burial.

General Lagbaja, who passed away at the age of 56 following an undisclosed illness, had served as the Chief of Army Staff since his appointment by President Bola Tinubu on June 19, 2023.

The late COAS will be accorded full military honors as part of the burial process, with a final internment scheduled for Friday, November 15, 2024, at the National Military Cemetery in Abuja.
