Allegations Trail APC Bomadi/Patani Primary Over Collation Discrepancies
Fresh concerns have emerged over the conduct of the All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Representatives primary for Bomadi/Patani Federal Constituency in Delta State, following allegations that the process may not have reflected results recorded at the ward level.
Party members have raised questions about the credibility of the outcome, alleging discrepancies between ward-level votes and the final figures announced during collation.
According to claims supported by video recordings and ward-level result sheets, the returning officer allegedly did not fully rely on the results from the wards during the collation process. It was further alleged that this led to differences between recorded votes and the announced outcome.
In one of the videos reportedly circulating, the returning officer was seen presenting a paper from his pocket, which was said to contain a different set of figures used in declaring the final result. Some stakeholders have questioned this process, describing it as inconsistent with standard electoral procedures.
The emerging claims also suggest that results from several wards, including Ward 1, Ward 3, Ward 4, Ward 7, and Ward 9, were not fully reflected in the final announcement. Individuals identified as ward contact persons include Mr. Cletus Edougha (Ward 7), Dr Deighan Macaulay (Ward 1), Hon William Angadi (Ward 4), Hon Mike Seikegba (Ward 3), and Chief Fere-ere Gbe (Ward 9).
Supporters of the affected camp maintain that available video clips and records from the polling areas indicate that votes from the wards were in favour of the incumbent lawmaker, Hon. Nicholas Mutu.
The situation has led to renewed calls from party stakeholders for a review of the primary election process, including examination of all submitted materials and video evidence to verify whether the declared result aligns with the actual votes cast by APC members in the constituency.
