Akpoti-Uduaghan Fuels Defection Rumours with TikTok Video
A recent TikTok video posted by Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has stirred political speculation and confusion, as the embattled Kogi Central lawmaker appeared in high spirits while playing a song praising President Bola Tinubu.
In the 15-second clip, which quickly went viral over the weekend, Akpoti-Uduaghan can be seen smiling and bobbing her head to “Asiwaju Omo Ologo,” a song by northern musician Dauda Kahutu, popularly known as Rarara. The track was originally performed in honor of the President during a state visit to Katsina.
Her choice of music and demeanor in the video have triggered widespread curiosity and debate, with many questioning whether the senator is signaling a possible defection from the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The senator has neither confirmed nor denied the implications of the video, leaving political observers and her supporters divided. While some interpret it as a light-hearted moment or political satire, others see it as a subtle nod to a potential shift in allegiance.
Akpoti-Uduaghan has been at the center of controversy since her suspension from the Senate on March 6, following a clash with Senate leadership over seating arrangements an issue she claimed was intended to humiliate her. The dispute escalated after she accused Senate President Godswill Akpabio of retaliating against her for rejecting alleged inappropriate advances, a claim she made during a national TV interview.
With uncertainty surrounding her political future and ongoing tensions with the Senate President, Akpoti-Uduaghan’s latest social media post has added fresh intrigue to an already tense political landscape.
