The Governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke, is set to swear in newly elected Local Government Council Chairmen on Sunday, February 23, following the completion of the state’s local government elections on Saturday, February 22.
This was confirmed by his Special Assistant on Digital Media, Olalekan Badmus, in a post shared on X on Saturday evening.

Badmus stated that the swearing-in ceremony will take place at 12:00 noon at the Government House in Osogbo, the state capital.
“The newly elected local government council chairmen will be sworn in by His Excellency, Governor Ademola Adeleke, tomorrow, 23/02/2025, at 12:00 noon prompt at the Government House, Osogbo,” Badmus wrote.
The announcement comes amid controversy surrounding the polls, which were held on Saturday February 22.
The Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSSIEC) declared that the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) won all local government and councillorship positions in the election. OSSIEC Chairman, Hashim Abioye, made the announcement via a Facebook Live broadcast on Saturday evening, revealing that PDP candidates secured victories across all 30 local government councils and all 332 wards in the state.
However, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has criticised the election, calling it illegal and commended the voters for boycotting the process.
