“Add Value To The Lives of Citizens In Your Locality,” -Oborevwori Urges Politicians
Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has charged political leaders to focus on projects that add real value to the lives of citizens, describing public service as a platform for improving people’s welfare.
The governor gave the charge during the commissioning of the Ultra-Modern Cottage Hospital, Iteregbi, built and furnished by the Hon. Anthony Ofoni-led Uvwie Local Government Council.
Represented by his deputy, Sir Monday Onyeme, Oborevwori praised the council chairman for his commitment to grassroots development, saying his achievements reflect the administration’s MORE Agenda — Meaningful Development, Opportunities for All, Realistic Reforms, and Enhanced Peace and Security.
“You have done very well. When you aspire for office, it should be to add value to the lives of our citizens. Thank you for adding value to the MORE Agenda,” Oborevwori said.
The governor commended other council chairmen across the state for their performance, noting that their projects were setting a new pace for local governance.
He also assured that his administration would respond to requests made by the Uvwie Council boss and traditional ruler, the Ovie of Uvwie, HRM Abe I.
On his part, Uvwie Council Chairman, Hon. Anthony Ofoni, said the newly commissioned hospital was part of his administration’s efforts to improve access to quality healthcare in the area.
He listed key achievements within his tenure, including the construction of modern markets in Ekpan, Ugboroke, and Ugbomro/Atata, perimeter fencing of Effurun Market, road rehabilitation, engagement of women for daily street cleaning, and educational support for over 1,500 pupils.
Ofoni said the new hospital was fully solar-powered, well-equipped, and included staff quarters to ensure uninterrupted healthcare delivery.
In his remarks, the Ovie of Uvwie Kingdom appealed for the completion of the Mother and Child Hospital in Ekpan, connection of Oregha Community to the national grid, and construction of the Ohorhe 1–Oregha access road.
The Iteregbi Cottage Hospital is expected to serve thousands of residents, boosting healthcare delivery across Uvwie and nearby communities.
