PDP Blasts FG’s $9 Million Deal With US Lobbying Firm
The Federal Government’s $9 million contract with US-based lobbying firm DCI Group to boost Nigeria’s image abroad has drawn sharp criticism from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). The party called the deal “defective, deceptive, and shameful,” arguing it was unnecessary since Nigeria already has a Ministry of Information and media aides.
According to US records, Kaduna-based law firm Aster Legal engaged DCI Group on behalf of National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu. The six-month agreement, renewable for another six months, is intended to help the government communicate its efforts to protect Nigerian Christian communities.
PDP’s National Publicity Secretary, Ini Ememobong, questioned both the purpose and transparency of the deal, demanding explanations from the Presidency.
The party insisted that no foreign firm can improve Nigeria’s international image without tangible progress in governance and security.
PDP’s criticism highlights growing concerns over government spending on image-building initiatives abroad while domestic challenges remain unresolved.
