‘We Have Been Neglected’ -Itsekiri Amnesty Students In Novena Cry Out

Itsekiri students enrolled in degree programmes at Novena University, Ogume, Ndokwa West local government area, Delta state have reportedly been neglected by the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP).

This was made known in a statement by the President and Secretary of the National Association of Itsekiri Students (NAIS), Mr. Ogbe Michael and Clement Ometie, in a recent SOS letter addressed to the newly appointed PAP Administrator, Dr. Dennis Otuaro.

The statement noted that the refusal of PAP to settle the outstanding tuition fees has hindered undergraduates, graduates and post-graduate under the scheme from making progress in their academic and career pursuits.

They further appealed the issue be given a favourable consideration. The student body also extended congratulations to Dr. Otuaro on his recent appointment, expressing hope that his leadership will bring renewed focus and efficiency to the PAP’s mission.

The Presidential Amnesty Program initiated in June, 2009 seeks to turn ex-agitators into entrepreneurs or employable citizens who will contribute positively to their respective regions.
