Nigeria Records Significant Drop in Crude Oil Production

Nigeria’s oil production fell to 1.599 million barrels per day (bpd) in November 2025, down 5.9% compared to 1.698 million bpd in the same month of 2024, according to the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC). The drop also reflected a decrease from October 2025’s output.

The commission’s report stated that daily production in November ranged between 1.54 million bpd at its lowest and 1.79 million bpd at its peak, averaging 1.6 million bpd for the month. This total combined crude oil and condensate output stood at 96% of Nigeria’s OPEC quota of 1.5 million bpd.

Of the total daily output, crude oil accounted for approximately 1.44 million bpd while condensate contributed around 163,000 bpd. The reduction highlights ongoing challenges affecting Nigeria’s upstream oil sector.

NUPRC’s data provide insight into the country’s production trends as Nigeria seeks to balance compliance with OPEC quotas and meet domestic economic demands.
