PDP Condemns Maiduguri Mosque Explosion, Faults Security Response

The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has condemned the Christmas Eve explosion at a mosque in Gamboru Market, Maiduguri, calling it a grim indication of Nigeria’s worsening security situation. In a statement issued Tuesday, the opposition party said the incident was “one too many” and noted what it termed the federal government’s failure to protect lives and property.

Signed by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Ini Ememobong, the statement accused the current administration of relying on rhetoric and politicisation rather than decisive security action. The PDP said attacks on places of worship are unacceptable and represent a serious threat to national stability.

The party expressed sympathy to the families of victims, stressing that no Nigerian should lose their life while worshipping. It warned that continued assaults on religious centres could erode constitutional rights and spread fear across the country.

The PDP urged federal and state governments to take immediate, practical measures to protect citizens during the festive season and beyond, insisting that Nigerians need concrete security strategies on the ground rather than promises.
