Police Insist on Enforcement of Tinted Glass Regulation

The Nigeria Police Force has reaffirmed that regulations governing tinted vehicle glass remain valid and enforceable, stating that no final court ruling has nullified the law.

In a statement released Tuesday, the Force clarified that ongoing legal challenges do not prevent it from carrying out its statutory responsibilities unless expressly directed by a court. It added that enforcement will be conducted with respect for due process and human rights.

Police authorities emphasized that the regulation is tied to national security, particularly in addressing crimes such as kidnapping and armed robbery. Claims that officers had been ordered to begin immediate enforcement were dismissed as inaccurate.

The Inspector-General of Police cautioned officers against extortion and abuse, warning that misconduct would attract disciplinary measures. Engagement with stakeholders, including the Nigerian Bar Association, will continue alongside public safety efforts.
