250 Delta Residents With Disabilities Get Renewed Hope Initiative Grants
Two hundred and fifty persons with disabilities in Delta State have received N200,000 each under the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) Economic Empowerment Programme championed by First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu. The initiative, launched nationwide across all 36 states and the FCT, is part of activities marking the 2025 International Day of Persons With Disabilities.
At the Delta State event in Asaba, Deaconess Tobore Oborevwori represented the First Lady, overseeing the distribution of the grants and reaffirming the administration’s commitment to inclusivity. She noted that the scheme aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, and that 9,500 individuals are expected to benefit from N1.9 billion set aside for the programme.
The initiative aims to strengthen small businesses operated by persons with disabilities, promote financial independence, and improve their integration into society. Each participating state, the FCT, and DEPOWA received N50 million to support the rollout. A wheelchair was also presented to one of the beneficiaries during the event.
Beneficiaries expressed gratitude, with Mr. Daniel Nwutu, who received both a grant and a wheelchair, saying the support would significantly boost his business and quality of life. Others hailed the annual programme as a lifeline that restores dignity, confidence, and hope for thousands across the country.
