Tinubu, 97 Senators Support Creation of Anioma State, Nwoko Says

Senator Ned Nwoko of Delta North has said that 97 senators, including President Bola Tinubu, support the creation of Anioma State.

He made the claim during the launch of the inaugural Anioma Cultural Festival (Anioma Day) at the Izu Anioma Towns Union event in Abuja over the weekend.

The bill to create the state was first introduced two years ago and seeks to carve out Anioma State from nine local government areas in Delta North. These include four in Aniocha and Oshimili, two in Ika, and three in Ndokwa.

Senator Nwoko also said neighbouring communities such as Igbanke have shown interest in joining the proposed state.

The proposal has gained momentum with significant support from lawmakers and regional groups.
