Delta Assembly Passes Anti-Terrorism, Anti-Cultism Bills

The Delta State House of Assembly has passed the 2025 Anti-Terrorism and Anti-Cultism Amendment Bill, aimed at tightening laws against terrorism, cultism and the use of explosives across the state.

The bill, sponsored by the executive arm, also seeks to make prosecution of offenders more effective. Majority Leader, Dr Emeka Nwaobi, moved a motion to suspend relevant house rules to allow the bill scale its third reading. It was supported by Charles Emetulu of Ndokwa West and unanimously approved.

Speaker Dennis Guwor said the legislation reflects the lawmakers’ commitment to public safety and community peace. The House also passed the State Colleges of Education Bill during the same session.
