KWAM 1 Apologises Over Airport Altercation With ValueJet

Fuji music icon Wasiu Ayinde, popularly known as KWAM 1, has apologised over his recent confrontation with ValueJet airline officials at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja. The incident, which occurred on August 5, 2025, sparked public backlash and led to his temporary placement on a no-fly list.

In a statement, the veteran musician expressed regret, calling the episode unfortunate and unintentional. He denied allegations that a flask he was carrying contained alcohol, explaining that he suffers from chronic dehydration and had been advised by his doctor to stay hydrated. He added that the flask was empty during security checks and was only filled with water at the airport lounge, a claim he said could be confirmed through CCTV footage.

KWAM 1 reaffirmed his loyalty to Nigeria, saying he would never act in a manner that tarnishes his decades-long reputation. He apologised to the Presidency, Ministry of Aviation, FAAN, NCAA, ValueJet, and the Nigerian public for any embarrassment caused.
