Wike Condemns Embarrassing Walkout on Remi Tinubu
FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike has criticised a walkout staged by women loyal to suspended Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara during an event attended by First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, calling it an embarrassment to the state.
The incident occurred on Friday at the Renewed Hope Initiative empowerment programme in Port Harcourt, where 500 women were set to receive support.
In a statement on Saturday, May 3, Lere Olayinka, Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media to the FCT Minister, he opined the walkout was led by sacked local government vice chairpersons.
Speaking from China, Wike apologised to the First Lady and President Bola Tinubu, saying disrespect to her office equates to disrespecting the presidency.
He accused Fubara’s supporters of hypocrisy, claiming they preach peace but act otherwise.“How can you say you want peace and at the same time, you are sponsoring people to insult everyone, including the President and his wife?” Wike said.
He urged the suspended governor to be transparent with his demands and criticised what he called “insincere peace gestures.”
