Rivers Administrator Seeks More Time to Brief Lawmakers, Says State Still Fragile
The Sole Administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (Retired), has asked for more time to brief a House of Representatives committee on recent developments in the state.
He made the request on Friday in Abuja during a meeting with the House Ad hoc Committee on Rivers, following two earlier absences on 17 and 24 April.

Mr Ibas apologised for not appearing sooner, saying the delay was due to the urgent task of stabilising governance in the state, which he described as “relatively calm, but still fragile”.
“I have always held the National Assembly in the highest regard,” he said. “It is important that any engagement with this committee is done with the depth, accuracy, and clarity it rightfully deserves.”
The administrator pledged full cooperation and said he would provide a detailed briefing once properly prepared.
Speaking after a closed-door session, committee chairman Julius Ihonvbere said a new date would be set for Mr Ibas to appear.
Mr Ihonvbere reaffirmed the committee’s constitutional role in overseeing the state of emergency declared in Rivers and said the legislature remains central to the transition process.
