Governor Fubara Denies Allegations as Missing Ex-HOS Wife Seeks Help
Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has denied allegations made against him by former Head of Service, George Nwaeke, in an interview accusing him of being coerced or paid to make false claims. In a statement issued on Friday night, Fubara described Nwaeke’s accusations as baseless and suggested the former official had been compromised.

“The truth is that Dr. Nwaeke has been compromised, and whatever he is saying is only aimed at fulfilling his promise to those who may have paid or coerced him to lie against me,” Fubara said. He further supported his position by sharing screenshots of purported conversations between Nwaeke and Fubara’s Chief of Staff, Edison Ehie. The chats appear to show Nwaeke seeking financial assistance in exchange for his loyalty, suggesting his salary of N500,000 was insufficient to meet his needs.

However, Nwaeke’s claims have been overshadowed by a disturbing development on Friday evening, after his wife, Florence Nwaeke publicly expressed concern for her husband’s safety following the interview in which he accused Governor Fubara of planning to back Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed in the 2027 presidential election. Nwaeke also alleged that Fubara had met with militants to encourage attacks on oil facilities in the region.
Mrs Nwaeke said she last spoke to her husband when he arrived in Abuja, but later became alarmed after seeing an interview online where he made serious allegations against the governor. “I sent him a message. I said, ‘Are you under duress?’ I asked if he had been kidnapped. Why aren’t you talking to me?” she said in a video.
She appealed for help, urging both the public and Governor Fubara to assist in locating her husband. “Governor Fubara, please help me find my husband. I don’t know where he is,” she said.
Meanwhile, the police have not yet confirmed his whereabouts, as questions continue to arise regarding the circumstances of Nwaeke’s alleged disappearance and the claims made against the governor.
