Rivers’ Sole Administrator Suspends All Political Appointees

Rivers State Interim Government has announced the suspension of various political office holders and appointees in the state.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, March 26, the suspension follows the authority granted to the Administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral (Rtd) Ibok Ete Ekwe Ibas CFR, by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu after declaring a state of emergency in the state.

The suspended officials include; The Secretary to the State Government, Chief of Staff, Honourable Commissioners, Chairmen and members of all boards, councils, agencies, commissions, institutions, and parastatals, Special Advisers, Special Assistants, and Senior Special Assistants

The suspension takes effect immediately, with all affected officials required to hand over their responsibilities to the Permanent Secretaries in their respective Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).

In the absence of a Permanent Secretary, the officials are to hand over to the most senior Director or Head of Administration.
