Fubara Denied Access To Rivers Assembly Quarters
Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara was denied entry to the Rivers State House of Assembly quarters on Wednesday, where lawmakers are currently holding plenary sessions.
The governor had arrived at the Assembly quarters in the morning to present the state’s 2025 budget, but was met with a locked gate, preventing his access, Warri Sentinel learnt.
Fubara had earlier pledged to implement the Supreme Court’s ruling, which included the formal presentation of the 2024 budget. This budget had been initially presented to a faction of the Assembly in December 2023.
Last week, the Assembly gave the governor a 48-hour ultimatum to present the 2025 budget.

Responding to the ruling, Fubara said he was waiting for the Certified True Copy (CTC) before proceeding with implementation.
On Sunday, a letter signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Tammy Danagogo, and addressed to Speaker Martins Amaewhule, invited lawmakers to discussions on the Supreme Court ruling.
The discussions were expected to cover the budget presentation, the payment of outstanding salaries to legislators, and other issues critical to moving the state forward.
