Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan Presents New Petition Against Senator Akpabio

Senator Natasha

Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has once again presented a petition alleging sexual harassment against Senate President Godswill Akpabio, this time with the backing of her constituents.

The Kogi Central lawmaker submitted the petition during Thursday’s plenary, where she was questioned on whether the matter was before any court of law. Akpoti-Uduaghan denied this, asserting that the case had not yet been taken to court.

Following Senate procedure, the petition was formally submitted and referred to the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges, and Code of Conduct for investigation.
The committee has been tasked with conducting a thorough probe and is expected to report back within four weeks.

This marks the second time the senator has raised the allegations in the Senate. Her initial petition, signed solely by her, was dismissed earlier this week due to procedural issues, as Senate rules stipulate that petitions must be submitted through a third party rather than directly by a senator.

With her constituents now endorsing the petition, the matter has been formally accepted for investigation.
