100L Student Arrested After Car Crash Kills One in Delta Campus, Boyfriend Flees
The Delta State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of Precious Nosakaire, a 100-level female student from Delta State University, Agbor, following her involvement in a deadly car accident that claimed the life of a final-year nursing student.
Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, confirmed the incident, revealing that the suspect has been taken into custody, while her boyfriend, who was reportedly teaching her how to drive, fled the scene. “Yes, it is confirmed that she killed a nursing student while one other is currently receiving treatment in the hospital. We have arrested the young girl, but her boyfriend is at large, and efforts are ongoing to arrest him,” Edafe said.
The tragic incident occurred on Tuesday in Agbor, not within the university campus, when Nosakaire, who was learning to drive, lost control of the vehicle. The car veered off the road and struck a group of pedestrians, including Awele, a final-year nursing student at the university, who was set to graduate in November. Awele was killed instantly, while two others sustained critical injuries and are currently undergoing treatment in the hospital.
Sources from the university revealed that Nosakaire’s boyfriend, who owns the car, fled the scene immediately after the crash, leaving behind the injured victims. An anonymous source from the university clarified that the accident did not occur on campus but in Agbor town, stating that the university has no jurisdiction over student activities off-campus.
The police have intensified their search for the boyfriend, whose whereabouts remain unknown.
