Omo-Agege Denies Alleged Plan to Leave APC
Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, Deputy President of the Nigerian Senate, has dismissed claims that he plans to leave the All Progressives Congress (APC) and form a new political party with Nasir El-Rufai. The allegations, published by US-based online magazine The Will on January 12, 2025, were described as “shocking” and “idiotic” by Sunny Areh, Omo-Agege’s media adviser.
Citing Omo-Agege’s performance in Delta State during the 2023 elections, Areh rejected the claims as baseless. He also criticized the publisher, Austyn Ogannah, for spreading false stories, citing a previous incident in August 2024 where Ogannah falsely reported the death of a former Nigerian lawmaker, Joan Onyemaechi, who had been kidnapped.

Areh accused political forces of attempting to sow discord between Omo-Agege and President Bola Tinubu. He reaffirmed Omo-Agege’s commitment to the APC and to leading the party in Delta State towards victory in the 2027 elections, stressing that the senator remains dedicated to the APC’s goals of economic reform and national progress.
He urged party members to disregard the claims and remain loyal to the APC.
