Five Arrested in Delta for Stealing ‘Young Shall Grow’ Bus
Five individuals have been arrested by the Delta State Police for allegedly stealing a bus belonging to the Young Shall Grow (YSG) Transport Company.
The suspects were paraded by the police on Friday morning, with the police spokesperson, ASP Bright Edafe, sharing a video of the suspects on his official social media account.
According to Edafe, the theft was carried out in an unusual manner. One of the suspects had worked with YSG for eight years as a panel beater before leaving the company after he was not retained. The suspect revealed that YSG often left keys in the buses without locking the doors, a detail that allowed the thieves to target the vehicles.
The group allegedly stole the bus from Aba, Abia State, before driving it to Warri, Delta State, where they planned to sell it to scrap dealers. However, their efforts were thwarted when Delta State Police intervened and recovered the bus before it could be sold.
The five suspects are now in police custody as investigations continue. The incident has raised questions about the security practices at YSG, with authorities calling for tighter measures to prevent further thefts.
